Memories #16 - #18
(#16, Stealing from the mob: Ep. 10, trivial neutral; won in Game #74. Item: champagne flute of apple wine)
No dialogue here--this is pretty much just Homura timestopping, walking into a legitimate business establishment, and grabbing a ton of guns--handguns, shotguns, etc.--and ammo from the lockers there.
Thinking outside the box +50
She learned why she knows how to use guns, pretty much; this one is otherwise divorced from a lot of its context (that is to say, the scene where Sayaka's yelling at her about her bombs didn't come with it).
(#17, Close call: Ep. 8, trivial negative; won in Game #75. Item: curve of bone with 9 white chocolate teeth [reusable; 8/9 uses remaining])
*Kyubey and Madoka are sitting on a bench beside a fountain, in the thick of a pretty heavy conversation about magical girls and Madoka's potential. Unbeknownst to them, Homura is nearby, eavesdropping.*
Madoka: You said I would be a really powerful magical girl. Is that true?
Kyubey: "Really powerful" is an understatement. You would be extraordinarily powerful. Possibly the most powerful in the world.
Madoka: If I had accepted, maybe Sayaka-chan wouldn't have become a magical girl . . .
Kyubey: Sayaka made her own wish. It had nothing to do with you.
Madoka: Why me?
Kyubey: I don't know. Honestly, your hidden potential is something I would never have even dreamed of. I would like an explanation myself.
Madoka: Really?
Kyubey: If you unleash your power, you may cause a miracle--you may even change the laws of the universe. But I can't explain why you alone have that kind of power.
Madoka: I always thought I was a person without any particular good points. I thought I'd just live out my life, never being able to help anyone or be good for anything. It made me sad and lonely, but there was nothing I could do about it.
Kyubey: But the reality is very different. Madoka, if you wish, I could make you into an all-powerful God.
Madoka: Then could I do what you couldn't?
Kyubey: And what's that?
Madoka: If I made a contract with you, could I turn Sayaka back to normal?
Kyubey: That sort of thing would be easy for you. Is that a wish worth trading away your soul?
Madoka: For Sayaka-chan, gladly. Make me a magical--
*And then time stops. The next thing Madoka knows, Kyubey is riddled with bullets. Behind her, Homura drops her empty gun to the ground. Madoka turns in the direction of the sound with a look of horror on her face, and Homura begins to approach the bench. The usual cool facade is gone--she's breathing heavily and clearly upset.*
Madoka: That--that was cruel! You didn't have to kill him!
Homura: Why are you always sacrificing yourself like that?
Madoka: Eh?
*Homura continues, getting steadily more and more upset, to the point where she ends up shaking Madoka by her shoulders.*
Homura: You're not good for anything, you don't mean anything? Don't put yourself down. Think about the people who care about you. Stop this! There are people who would mourn you if you were gone--why don't you realize that? What would become of everyone who's trying to protect you?!
*And then it's just too much; Homura slumps to her knees, crying. Madoka is dumbstruck for a moment--but Homura's outburst seems to nudge her towards a strange and impossible thought.*
Madoka: Homura-chan--! Have we . . . have we met somewhere before?
Homura: That's . . .
*Madoka then turns to collect her belongings.*
Madoka: I'm sorry. I have to find Sayaka-chan.
Homura: Wait! Miki Sayaka is already--
Madoka: I'm sorry.
*And with that, Madoka turns and runs off in search of Sayaka. Homura makes to follow her, but is still having a bit of trouble standing up.*
Homura: Wait! Madoka!
*When Madoka simply continues out of sight, Homura breaks down entirely, sobbing.*
*And then the streetlamps all around the fountain flicker out in unison . . .*
Kyubey: You know it's useless. You just don't learn.
*Upon hearing that voice, Homura raises her head--to see Kyubey standing on the fence behind her. Her cool demeanor has already returned.*
Kyubey: I have as many spare bodies as I need, but still, having one get pointlessly destroyed is problematic. It's a waste.
*Kyubey leaps down and skitters over to the Kyubey-corpse on the bench, which at some point has degenerated into shapeless fluff. Kyubey proceeds to eat said fluff. It's kind of weird. Homura, meanwhile, rises unsteadily to her feet.*
Kyubey: This is the second time you've killed me. Thanks to that, I've been able to see what kind of attacks you use. That was time-manipulating magic, right?
*Homura's startled look is all the answer Kyubey needs.*
Kyubey: It seems that my guess was right. You aren't from this timeline.
Homura: I know what you are and what you're planning.
Kyubey: And that's why you keep interfering with me. You want to change Kaname Madoka's fate that way?
Homura: Yes. I will not allow your plan to succeed, Kyubey . . . or should I say "Incubator?"
THAT WAS LONG
maybe I should've split that one up but it all fits together so nicely

Well, not that she didn't already kind of suspect this, but this memory does point pretty explicitly to Kyubey using the magical girl -> witch transformation for his own ends. I-It also tells her that Sayaka's magical girl career is . . . probably not going that well at this point! Oh and also that Madoka didn't really take her warning to heart after all 8(
(#18, And that's why you should give up: Ep. 5, trivial neutral; won in Game #76. Item: a small chocolate battle-axe)
*Homura and Madoka are sitting across from each other at a restaurant table. Homura has a cup of coffee, which she keeps handling in oddly dramatic ways.*
Homura: What did you want to talk about?
Madoka: Well, about Sayaka-chan . . . she's such a stubborn girl, and it's hard to change her mind. So she gets into arguments with people easily. But she's a really nice girl! She's kind, brave, and if it's she thinks she's doing it for someone's sake, she pushes herself too hard.
Homura: A magical girl can lose her life due to those traits.
Madoka: Really . . .
Homura: Being too kind can lead you to being naive. Being recklessly brave can mean being careless. And no matter how devoted you are, there's no repayment for it. If she doesn't understand that, she won't fulfill the duties of a magical girl. That's why Tomoe Mami lost her life.
Madoka: Don't put it that way! . . . Sayaka-chan did say that she was fine, but when I think about her ending up the way Mami-san did . . . what can I do?
Homura: So you're worried about Miki Sayaka.
Madoka: *nodding* I can't help Sayaka-chan at all. So I wanted to ask you, Homura-chan. Please, get along with her--don't argue with her like you did with Mami-san! I'm sure it would be safer if everyone hunted witches together!
*Homura, who had been about to sip her coffee, pauses and looks up as she hears that.*
Homura: I don't want to lie. I don't want to make a promise I can't keep, either. So please, give up on Miki Sayaka.
*Upon hearing that, Madoka begins to cry.*
Madoka: Why . . .
Homura: She shouldn't have made that contract. That's my fault. I should've watched her closely too, not just you.
Madoka: Then--
Homura: But, since I've declared my responsibility, allow me to say this: at this point, that's a mistake that can't be compensated for. It's the same as being unable to bring back the dead. Once you've become a magical girl, you can never be rescued. That contract means you have to give up everything for just one wish.
Madoka: So that's why you've given up, Homura-chan? You've given up on yourself. You've given up on other people. Everything.
Homura: Right. I won't make the excuse that this is atonement. I have to keep fighting, no matter how much sin I carry.
*Madoka has no reply for that, just looking down sadly. Homura stands up, preparing to leave.*
Homura: It seems that I've wasted your time. I apologize.

SHE LEARNED THAT AT THIS POINT SHE GIVES FUCK ALL ABOUT ANYONE BUT MADOKA . . . s-she's not even willing to try and help Sayaka out at Madoka's behest, sob. Other than that, though, this is mainly more cynicism about the magical girl gig, building off of memory #14.
